Whistler Independent Supported Housing

Welcome to WISH. A registered non-profit organization advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities to secure independent, supportive housing in Whistler, British Columbia.  Please join us in making this dream a reality!

Living Independently in Whistler

Did you know that many people living with developmental disabilities often make only one move in their lifetime? This is generally from their parent’s home into a supported environment. They do this much later in life than typical young adults. It is important to us that we get this right.

It is important to build a sustainable plan.  Our board is responsible for seeing into the future to ensure that all residents are cared for and their future is secure.

We will support housing for young adults who are active members of the Whistler community. Many already live, work, and volunteer in Whistler. A ‘Residence Committee’ will develop a detailed plan for resident applications.  It will include eligibility assessments and lifestyle goals.

As many residents are eligible for community services such as: lifeskills, nutritional supports, physical fitness, to list a few, our WISH is to establish a consistent routine to allow our residents to thrive.  Our plan is to build a home where young adults thrive independently, breaking free from government reliance.
